Sorta, yeah. It helps strengthen your bonds with your Pokemon. Some enjoy battling, though I do meet a few who don't- but that's fine, some Pokemon prefer the easier life like settling down as pets or helping the city.

[ Zorua peers back up, tail still wagging but doesn't seem at all troubled by Kyouhei's words. true some might see it as something bad.. but the way Kyouhei describes it, they all have a choice. if a pokemon doesn't want to battle, he definitely won't force it. but over all it's just a friendly competition.
